Enchodus Fish Jaw from Morocco
This jaw section is from the fish Enchodus. This jaw is nearly complete and teeth are in excellent condition. The jaw is from the Cretaceous phosphate deposits of Morocco. We find enchodus in the Cretacous Niobrara (see examples on our page) but they aren't this large. This jaw is in the natural matrix and I've saturated the matrix with stabilizer. Matrix measures approximately 12 inches by 5.5 inches and is about 3 inches thick. Jaw is just over 11 inches long. Front tooth is just at 2 inches. Enchodus specimens from Morocco are often faked where they make a fake jaw bone and put real teeth on it. The fakes sell cheap and quality true specimens like this are not common.
