Mosasaur Vertebra-Morocco #1
This piece consists of 5 articulated Mosasaur vertebra from the Cretaceous phosphate beds in Morocco. The vertebra are in the natural matrix and I have saturated this piece with a stabilizer. The matrix is very friable and fragile so it becomes very solid when adding the stabilizer. I purchased this piece field prepped and partially jacketed and did the final preparation myself so can guarantee the authenticity. Bone from the phosphate beds is very fragile compared to mosasaur fossils we find in the Niobrara of Kansas. Piece measures 12 inches by 9 inches. There are a lot of fish vertebra and a nice enchodus tooth in the matrix. I did have to fill some holes in the matrix with crushed original matrix.
